Did you undergo a medical procedure to help you loose weight fast only to find now that you are left with tons of excess skin? Or maybe you have spent years perfecting your diet and exercise regime only to find that you still can’t get rid of that little extra fat and skin. While you will find that with advancements in medicine the Tummy Tuck procedure is quite commonplace, there are still many things you will need to know about the procedure in order to make a well informed decision.

For example, you will find that there are many different physical conditions that will determine whether or not you are a candidate for this procedure. One of these physical conditions is that you are a man or woman in relatively good health other than the need to remove excess skin and fat. Also, if you find that the majority of your extra skin and fat is just below your belly button then you may be recommended for the mini Tummy Tuck procedure instead of a full. Not only will the mini be a lot less invasive but the recovery time is a lot less as well.

It is also important to understand that regardless of which tuck you get there will be a scar left. If it is a full version of the surgery then you will more than likely be left with quite a long scar. However, the scar is left in an area that will most often be covered by your underwear or bathing suit. Furthermore, if you follow all the advice and directions given by your surgeon you will often find that the scar will get quite faded in time. On the other hand, if you are a smoker you will find that your Tummy Tuck recovery will be much harder as smoking interferes with the healing process. Often time you will be required to quit smoking for a few months in order to even get the surgery done. But the good news is that it will be well worth the effort.

Another fact that you will want to be aware of is that you will most likely get liposuction as well as the tuck. This is to remove the extra fat so that your skin can be pulled taunt to give you that flat stomach you have desperately worked to achieve. Just remember that when you go to speak to your Tummy Tuck surgeon that you talk about your body shape goals. Your doctor will be able to help you ensure that they give you the best look for your body.

And finally, always remember that this is not a permanent fix. Or in other words, if you gain weight the skin will re-stretch and the tummy will bulge again. So make sure you stick to a good diet and exercise program to keep the weight off for good. A Tummy Tuck is only as good as the food you put into your mouth so do not waste all that time, effort, and money just to throw it all away for over indulgence.
