Bamboo is one of the hottest trends going right now. The beauty and functionality of bamboo can add ambiance to a multitude of decorating styles. Bamboo can range from thin reedy strips to larger more solid pieces. Adding the right touch to your room can darken the room considerably, or merely filter the light if desired. The right type of bamboo shades can make a room enticing and enjoyable.

Window shades with smaller bamboo can be used for their wonderful light filtering qualities. Finely spaced or "matchstick" window shades can create a warm glowing ambiance in any room. The classic use of these type window shades in sunrooms to create a slightly darkening or filtered affect is the perfect "match". Shades of this type can be drawn during high sun activity or opened on cloudy days to let extra light pass. But nothing can match the beauty of a bamboo shade of this type with the bright summer sun streaming through it to create an amber colored light that is perfect for reading, relaxing or even taking a well deserved nap in the sunroom on a gorgeous summer day. Typically using these type window shades will darken the room somewhat, and they are designed to filter light and create softer, more ambient lighting.

For more darkening effects, a shade with a liner would be perfect. Most bamboo shades today come with the choice available to the consumer of lined or unlined. The lined shade would be more suited to a bedroom, living room or even kitchen or family room where more privacy or more darkening qualities would be desired. These window shades come in as many beautiful patterns and textures as the unlined window shades, and indeed quite often are the same shade simply with a liner sewn on to add to the darkening and privacy features. This quite often brings out the lovely custom made patterns that make bamboo shades unique in their design features. The right liner can bring a bamboo shade to life, and create a whole new tone to a room.

Many customers choose bamboo due to the fact that it is an easily renewable source, making it an environmentally friendly way to darken or dilute the light in a particular room or rooms. Taking advantage of the craftsmanship available from many sources, the bamboo shades created today are economically sound as well, with renewable source material being a factor in their longevity.

Bamboo shades have been a staple of the interior design industry for many years, and their durability lends itself to many styles, from classic elegance to a more eclectic mix of modern. The unlined versions are perfect for slightly darkening a room that is too sunny most of the time, while the addition of linings can make even the brightest room perfect for sleeping purposes, all while adding a touch of distinction and style to any room on any budget.

For the most privacy and darkening effects, window shades with a darker color and a darker lining are the best alternative. Window shades that offer these features come in many styles, sizes and colors. While any shade can have a liner added, the most effective way is during the making of the shade. This prevents unsightly bulges and seams that are often found on "aftermarket" liners.

The peaceful and serene feeling attached to entering a room with lined bamboo shades can be an experience that is unmatched. Entering the cool darkness of a room from the blazing heat of a summer day, where the window shades are drawn can invite the entrant into a serene oasis of shadow and bliss. All this can be achieved using lined bamboo shades.
