What comes into your mind when someone mentions the word “entrepreneur?” Do you think of a person who has the courage to step out on their own? Or do you think of a BIG leap of faith? Or, maybe, it is a combination of both?
According to the definition, an entrepreneur is a person who organizes and manages a commercial undertaking, especially one involving commercial risk. The risk in the definition usually refers to a financial risk, but I would like to propose that it includes a personal risk. It is a risk to find out who you really are inside.
Let us uncover the Reasons to Become an Entrepreneur
FIRST REASON:
The first reason to become an entrepreneur is the person you become in the process. To become an entrepreneur is really a journey on the road of personal development. It is not as much about the product or services you offer, but it is about YOU. Being an entrepreneur stretches you in ways that you cannot imagine.
“Why would I even want to do that?” You ask.
Are you familiar with the “Principle of the Rubber Band?” A rubber band when stretched wants to return to it original shape; its zone of comfort. If we stretch that rubber band for a period of time it will eventually grow into a larger shape. This dynamic occurs in humans. We do not like to be stretched because it will involve change and humans seem to especially like the comfort zone. Although in the process of stretching we grow, learn, evolve, and become more than our previous size, so to speak. In fact, if we are not stretching, growing, and evolving we are too attached to the comfort zone and remain small or stagnant. A valuable life lesson and a new level of wisdom will both occur when you embrace the Principle of the Rubber Band.
REASON TWO:
The second reason to become an entrepreneur is for the learning and knowledge that occurs. It comes from the experience in the action of the entrepreneurial endeavor; it is the school of learning as you go or as you grow. Do you realize that as an entrepreneur you get paid while you get an education. Have you ever heard of a school like this?
REASON THREE:
The third reason to become an entrepreneur is for the people you will meet and the places you will go. It reminds me of a Dr. Seuss book. Once you embark on the entrepreneurial journey and the road to personal development, you will find people and resources to enlighten the way. There are some exceptional people who have gone before and are graciously willing to share their incredible wisdom. Ellie Drake is an example of an inspiring person who assists in empowering others in their personal development. I have had the pleasure of meeting and hearing Jim Rohn share his valuable philosophies. When you associate and develop friendships with other entrepreneurs, you will notice a high level of energy and excitement in their presence that is contagious.
REASON FOUR:
The fourth reason to become an entrepreneur is to gain self-confidence which comes as a natural by product of the process. By taking action and following through with the necessary habits, learning, and developing skills of entrepreneurship, you not only grow as a person but also feel empowered in stature. Your self-esteem flourishes and you vibrate at a higher level of energy which brings forth your true essence and aligns you with the Universe and the Laws of Attraction.
BECOMING AN ENTREPRENEUR will provide the stretching while you grow in knowledge and wisdom to become that amazing person that you are already on the inside, but has not fully blossomed.
