Why Organic Baby Clothing?

A wise lady once quoted - “Life is a process. We are a process. The universe is a process.” This is one of the truest statements ever made about ‘natural balance.’ Nature needs its balance to maintain us. And, we, entrapped in our human greed, have learnt the art of compromising natural balance for monetary profit by opting for unnatural ways of getting higher produce by using environmentally unsafe products.

It is however hard to imagine how ‘clothes’ can be unsafe or contribute towards environmental degradation. Clothes, yes conventional clothes harm ‘us' and the environment. How? Let’s read on.

Most conventional clothes are made of cotton or other synthetic fibers.
Synthetic fibers are produced using chemicals that are poisonous and are a burden on the environment.
Cotton used for conventional clothes is grown using pesticides which are nothing but cancer-causing chemicals, such as, cyanazine, dicofol, naled, propargite, and trifluralin. During production, the conventional cotton fabric is exposed to highly toxic chemical baths and treatments and is then dyed using chemical-based synthetic dyes containing heavy metals. These synthetic chemical dyes can cause serious allergic reactions and side-effects especially to those with allergies, asthma, or multiple chemical sensitivities.

According to the Organic Baby author Kim Rider, the chemicals used for making baby clothing stain and flame resistant can adversely affect your baby's eyes, nose and throat and have been known to cause depression, leukaemia and even cancer. And, chemicals used for cotton production and treatment usually remain in the clothes even ‘after’ they have been washed.
Now imagine your little one chewing on edge of his brand new outfit! Scary, isn’t it?

Babies are tender creatures who deserve nature’s best. Why expose them to unnatural evils like chemicals and toxins? What is toxic to adults is bound to be 15 times more toxic to the babies. Chemicals that remain in clothes can easily enter into a baby’s system through his skin. Therefore, organic baby clothing is always the best choice for your baby. Why? Read on!

‘Organic baby clothing’ uses cotton that is produced without using pesticides or any chemicals at all. And, organic clothing is never exposed to synthetic dyes. IN fact, the entire process is completely natural and the product is hence safer, stronger, and hard-wearing.

Though organic clothing feels expensive initially, it is actually worth its cost when compared to conventional clothing that wears down easily after 10-20 washes. Organic clothing does not break-down even after 100 washes simply because it was never subjected to any chemical abuse during its production. It lasts long, feels great on the skin and causes no side-effects or allergies. As parents, investing in organic clothing is wiser because it not only protects your children; it protects the farmers and the environment too.

When buying organic baby clothing you may look for labels that suggest of the article being ‘green, natural or organic’. You can also save a lot of money while purchasing organic clothes directly from the manufacturer or using coupons in branded retail stores that promise a good and affordable collection of authentic organic clothing. Another way of procuring some good bargains is going online. Sites such as eBay and Amazon too come up with great deals for organic clothing.

Thanks to that one wise man that started the Green Revolution. Green is natural and organic is the natural way of life. We do need to make wise choices when it comes to making our lifestyles healthier and better; more so, when deciding about our children.
