Why You Need A County Courthouse Search

When you want to know something about somebody or about a business, the County Courthouse is about as valuable a resource as exists. A wide scope of information is on record and available to those who have the time, energy and ability to gather the information.

In most County Courthouses, records are departmentalized. A large part of locating information is about knowing where to begin the search. Of course the next part can be fairly tedious and is the reason County Courthouse search agencies provide such a valuable service.

The County's Bureau of Vital Services keeps birth, marriage, divorce and death information. For the most part, court records are a matter of public record and are stored at the courthouse. These records include circuit court proceedings, county court records and all civil and criminal litigation. Matters of separation, child custody, tenancy, and business background and asset investigations can be performed through information at the County Courthouse. Most counties eventually forward materials to the state capital for permanent storage. The national County Courthouse Book contains much useful information about records that are available in more than 3,300 county courthouses. For any search, certain information will be required. Incomplete search applications will not be processed. In some cases a fee may be charged for performing certain information and in all cases copying fee is assessed.

Some of the more common searches pertain to probate matters, "Doing Business As" (DBA) filings, building permits, zoning issues and real estate deed and tax records. Certificates of Incorporation, voter registration information, vehicle tag data, boat registrations are also available at the courthouse.

As you can tell, if you know how and where to search, there is no reason to not know information about companies or people with whom you do business or who visit your home or are candidates for employment at your home or office.

There are so many uses for information on record at the County Courthouse. How many times have you allowed someone to drive your vehicle without performing a driving record search? Why not save yourself a headache down the road and know who is driving your vehicle.

Today, more and more working families are hiring nannies. We have all read of tragic consequences. These situations could be easily avoided with a proper County Courthouse search. Does someone owe you money? Perhaps the reason they are not paying is described at the courthouse.

In many states, statewide criminal searches are not permitted. In these states, the only way to accurately perform a criminal record search is through the county courthouse. As searches may require access to various departments and inasmuch as these departments may have specific hours that searches are permitted, the process can be time consuming.

Persons who need to know the name for the county where a city is located can check with the U.S. Postal Service Zip Code Directory. As people often move locally, it may be a good idea to perform searches at several neighboring counties.

The main reason people perform searches is to be comfortable with people around them. Today, searches are useful to learn about people who may approach you or your family through online connections. Without performing a search, what do you really know about these people? We have all read about the dangers of Internet stalkers and scams. Protect yourself and your family and perform a search. It is a worthwhile protection.
