Joining an astronomy club offers you a lot of helpful benefits for the amateur (or experienced astronomer. Although it is human nature to be solitary, you will uncover a great many benefits if you join a local group or organization. This might not always be an easy task for certain people as it does depend where you live.

When we all take a sincere look back at ourselves, we ought to promptly notice that we are not all perfect and by and large being about others with a related interest has a helpful effect on our learning and experience. Another benefit is producing friendships.

Let us have a peek at numerous benefits to joining a local astronomy club.

The first worthy point is access to better observing locations. This is a consequence of the networking function of the organization you join - as a group they have the capacity to scout a very big area of potential observing areas. If the membership is a decent size, I bet that there will be a lot of impressive places the members go to on a regular basis that you may not have known existed. Maybe a member has a member of the family that owns a farmstead within a brisk drive. Not only can you discover good observations locations, you may even get a nice warm mug of coffee or tea!

The second point is being amongst veteran astronomers. There is little argument that when you are about other like-minded folk that are more knowledgeable than you, you're own skills will enhance. This theory is mostly true for most human activities, whether bringing up kids, taking part in sports, or looking for a planet. To get the most out of this though, you must be teachable and humble. Acknowledge that you do not know every single thing their is to know regarding astronomy and be willing to take constructive analysis, no matter how it is presented to you. Some folk can be bad-tempered and rude and even their advice can be crudely given out, but do yourself a favor and stay polite.

The third point is having access to other people's astronomy kit. Believe it or not, the average amateur astronomer commonly has more than one telescope. A few are die-hard fans of one brand or another; Vixen, Meade, Celestron, Zhumell, and others, they all have their loyal followers. If you are in the looking for your initial telescope, there is nothing more valuable than hands-on experience with numerous diverse brands and models presented by interested parties that will give you skilled advice and recommendations.

So joining an astronomy clud has numerous benefits for the new or qualified astronomer. My own adivice is to visit a number of assorted clubs if you have access to them before you settle on the membership in any single club. Make sure the club you select has like-minded members. If you are already a hard-core stargazer, look for one that is committed to observing the stars on a regular basis. I know you will be be the better astronomer for it.
