Drug Treatment Centers for Prescription Addiction
- By: Drugrehab Herb
People fall prey to prescription addictions just like people get addicted to illicit drugs. Prescription drug addiction is not only an addiction, but is very harmful to your body. Most prescriptions are given for short term treatment of pain, anxiety, depression, but many find that once they experience the euphoria of the medicines they are taking, that they can’t live without it. They will find ways to keep filling their prescriptions. Going to great lengths such as faking ailments in the E.R., feigning mental illness or some other behavioral disorder, and doctor shopping; prescription drug addicts are some of the craftiest at getting their high.
Although it is taboo for people to use street drugs, there seems to be a lackadaisical feeling about people who use prescription medication. Because medication is prescribed by a doctor, people tend to think it is okay to use the pills for things other than what they were prescribed for. Unfortunately, because of this, many people will not own up to the fact that they are addicted. Often comparing them to what they believe to be a common drug user, they don’t feel like what they are doing is wrong, and often times feel justified in doing so.
Not only are most prescription drug addicts unaware of their addiction, they are completely unaware of the affects that the drugs are doing on their organs. Liver and kidneys are usually the most adversely affected by prescription drug users, because often times they are also people who drink alcohol. Not only does this harm the body, but it creates a more intense high. Alcohol and prescription drugs are a deadly cocktail waiting to happen. As tolerance builds up to the drugs, the need for more or even stronger medication starts to take over.
If you know someone who is addicted to prescription medications and you know they need help, you will find the help and support that you and your loved one needs. Don’t waste another day watching your loved one slowly die. Don’t wait for an accidental overdose to take their life. Seek out the drug treatment that is necessary to turn things around.
People fall prey to prescription addictions just like people get addicted to illicit drugs.
I’m Tegan Dawn and I truly believe that the only way to an addiction free life is with professional help. I have yet to meet a person who has stayed clean and sober without the aid of drug treatment centers. If sobriety is what you truly want, then you will go through a drug treatment center.
