If you are like most people, you have experimented with burning DVD’s at one point or another. Whether it is for entertainment purposes and you are burning media files, or if you are creating physical backup files of important data files, you are bound to use them at some point. As you probably have noticed, there are a lot of different formats available and you may be wondering which one is the best to use for what you want to put on it.

DVD R DL is a format of the DVD that consists of a dual layer, which is also referred to as DVD-R9. This format comes from the standard version of the DVD-R disc but is capable of holding more files and can utilize two layers of the disk that are recordable. They can be used in many different DVD devices and players but they can only be written on using a device that is DVD R DL compatible. The dual layer recording that is possible with the DVD R DL discs allows users to store information and media files on both of the layers instead of only one with standard DVD’s. There are different reasons why some users prefer to use the DVD R DL format, but commonly it is to be able to utilize that extra layer for storage and quality.

The drawback to using the DVD R DL format discs is that you can not record on them with any old device or software program. You are only able to burn and record information and media files by using a program that is specifically compatible with the DVD R DL format. A lot of the older versions that people are using or that came with their computers become out dated and do not support the format of this type of disc. If you do have the right kind of player and burner to use with these discs, you can enjoy a lot more space and storage capability than you can with ordinary DVD’s. For most users that do a lot of burning and need a lot of storage space on their DVD’s, the DVD R DL format does the job and does it well.

If you have a lot of information or media files that you want to keep back ups for, the DVD R DL can be a good option for you as it saves a lot of space on your computer and your hard drive. The multi layer recording capabilities of the DVD R DL make it possible to have nearly twice the amount of storage and media files on one disc instead of having to have multiple discs to hold all of the data. These discs are usually more expensive than original DVD’s but you are required to use less of them because of all the extra space you have on the dual layers.

When it comes to media, you are probably very aware of the different kinds of media files that are out there. There are audio files, video files and numerous other kinds of formats that are used to record and store all of your favorite music, movies and media. DVD media has been around for a while, and more and more people are beginning to realize the benefits that it has for their media files. DVD media allows users to record and burn movies and music easily and with a high standard of quality.
