The Kinoki Foot Patch: The Real Deal Or Real Scam?
- By: Fred Andrews
Our bodies do not have it straightforward. Each day, we're exposed to poisons in the air, the water and even in our food! It's hard to avoid this exposure irrespective of how healthy a life you try to live.
Unless you're able to eat only organic produce, you could be getting pesticides in your fruits and vegetables. If you eat meat, you could be exposed to giant amounts of antibiotics and even growth hormones! Fish can contain mercury and other waterborne contaminants.
These poisons make it troublesome for your liver to function correctly, can lower your metabolism (leading to weight gain) and have plenty of other dangerous effects. The environmental poisons we are commonly exposed to may cause numerous forms of cancer, persistent fatigue syndrome and other ailments.
Naturally, you would like to eliminate these poisons from your body as completely as possible. You could have seen some of the numerous commercials for de-toxing foot pads. It seems a fair enough idea - but do these foot pads really work?
Kinoki and Avon are among the corporations that promote these detoxifying foot pads. These pads were tested on the program 20/20 and by a number of bloggers concentrating on the field of health.
The results? Discontent . Almost all of the subjects who tried the foot pads reported no change in their health or sense of well-being; surprising given that these were prepared subjects who were hopeful that the pads would be effective for them.
The makers of these foot pads make the allegation that their products turn dark as they pull poisons from the body through the bottoms of the feet. One thing which all of the participants did agree on is the pads did, in fact turn dark. The other thing the partakers came to a general agreement on is that they smelled nasty - some even announced the smell managed to permeate their bedding.
So what about laboratory tests on the pads? Again, upsetting ; these showed no poisons whatsoever in the pads after being worn. In reality, testing proved that the pads turned dark when exposed to water - the darkening of the pads was caused by perspiration, not toxins. A straightforward test with distilled water proved that this alone would turn the pads dark.
The conclusion? Simple enough - do not squander your money. These pads don't detoxify the body and are either a well intentioned but ill conceived product or an outright scam.
