Symptoms of Stress, General Signs of Anxiety - By: John Adison

Not heeding to these physical and psychological symptoms of stress can lead to serious consequences. You have to be responsible for your own health. You know what they say. Prevention is better than cure. While stress is a normal part of your life, you can at least minimize its negative effects, and save yourself from running to the doctor in the long run.

So what can be done about stress and anxiety? The truth is, stress can be an easy thing to overcome. Many people feel the need to go to a doctor and get a prescription from some kind of drugs. This could not be further from the truth. Actually, drugs can possibly make things worse. Sure they might help temporarily but in the long run they wont do anything to help anxiety and you will eventually become addicted to them (trust me I have been there).

Stress is one of the several methods through which human bodies react to the changes around them. These are different types of changes that occur in the environment on a regular basis. Several factors such as finances, work environments, domestic problems and health lead to various levels of stress in individuals. Stress is not just inconvenient and bothersome but almost 90% of the diseases in modern times are stress related. Hence, it is very important for all individuals to be aware of its various symptoms to ensure timely actions.

One of the challenges of modern times is our brains can run away with situations causing our bodies to alter physically to deal with the stress. The stress is these situations is held in the body and no release is given to the stored up energy. We may waffle over situations and not find immediate solutions to working these out. Meanwhile the body is getting tied up in knots.

There are many cures for anxiety. However, some are better than others. The first type of cure was drugs. Although a lot of doctors still prescribe drugs to their patients this is the old method of dealing with anxiety. The reason is because drugs are a temporary cure. They help for a few hours then fade away. Because of this they become very addictive.

While we may think that not all causes of stress are equal in intensity, our bodies cannot tell whether we are suffering from psychological or physical danger. Our bodies respond to life-threatening circumstances and such trivial things as traffic jams in the same way. Constant sources of stress mean that out bodies are permanently on standby to deal with emergencies. If this goes on for a longer period of time, it can have grave consequences to our health, including high blood pressure, lower immunity, greater risk of heart disease, premature aging, infertility, depression and anxiety.
