marketing book Writing and submitting articles is one of the easiest, most effective ways to market your website or product. For an article marketing campaign to be successful, however, your articles need to be well written, informative and interesting. Writing articles solely for the purpose of increasing links back to your site is a flawed strategy. Most article directories have at least some guidelines and standards which they use to decide whether or not to even accept an article. You’ll also be missing the opportunity to take advantage of the more important benefits of article writing, such as effective product promotion and improved search engine rankings.

The Five C’s of Quality Writing

Better Writing No Comments »

By: Scott White

professor There are two components of any copy, whether it’s an article, a Web site, or a book: content and appearance.

Content means the words that actually appear on the page - your message. It can be serious, humorous, elegant, bold, technical, or conversational in tone. But the message is the words themselves. What you’re saying and how you’re saying it. Content includes grammar, spelling, jargon, acronyms, and the like.
Appearance relates to the way the words (content) look on the page.

These are things that affect the way the words look on the printed page (or monitor, for Web copy) - all of which goes in to making your copy easy to read.
Are your paragraphs all piled up, one on top of the other, with no graphics, subheadings, or other means of breaking them up? Are they manageable in size and easy to digest? A paragraph is supposed to contain one chunk of related information. Sometimes they can get fairly lengthy and still be in correct literary form . . . but keep your reader in mind. If there’s a way to break up one big, gigantic, one-and-a-half-page paragraph, DO IT!

The Three Biggest Mistakes That Webwriters Make

Site Promotion No Comments »

By: Daphne Gray-Grant

site promotion Writing for the web sometimes seems like a mysterious, almost mystical process. It’s also the subject of much conflicting advice.

“Write short,” say some experts. People who read the Internet only scan. “Nah,” retort others. “Be absolutely sure you answer all of the customers’ questions. Write as long as you need to make the sale.”

Instead of getting stuck in the long-versus-short debate, I like to cut through the bafflegab by focusing on a web writing trick that’s wonderfully simple, straightforward and non-controversial. It is: Think like your customer.

Content is Still King – A Short and Simple Reminder

Content is King No Comments »

By: Emmanuel DeFreitas

typewriter The demand for good, quality, unique and informative articles to place on blogs, websites and ezines is growing astronomically in direct proportion to the number of new sites that are popping up every minute on the web. If you are a newbie trying to establish yourself as a somebody in a sea of nobodies, there really are only two ways to go…you can pay for it, or you can roll up your sleeves and get to work writing high demand articles and submitting them to article directories. If this seems like an oversimplification, so be it because by now, you are probably fed up to the gills on over hyped claims that constantly bombard any would-be Webmaster and you could use some simplification.

Assuming that you already have a website up and running, and also assuming that you are not made of money, what can you do to get the maximum return for your efforts. There is no substitute for hard work and perseverance. Remember that old saying that states if you throw enough mud at a wall, some of it will stick…well, promoting your services, products, whatever, requires throwing a lot of mud…and a lot of patience.

The benefits of submitting your articles to article directories have been well documented and have stood the test of time. I am going to regurgitate a few of these benefits in a list in the hope that it will stimulate the creative genius that lies within all of us. Remember that this article is aimed at new and upcoming webmasters but established individuals sometimes need a little reminder.

Top 5 Reasons to Submit Articles to Directories

1) It is Free!
This is a very good reason to try something on the internet, especially when you are starting out…you will have plenty of time to spend your money later on.

2) Instant Links
By now you must know that search engines like Google and Yahoo love links. Links are the measuring stick they use to determine how relevant your website truly is. By submitting your articles, other websites pick them up and use them on their sites provided that they keep the resource box with your link intact. In other words…instant links back to your site.

3) Additional Traffic
As you submit your articles they articles are picked up by other websites, featured in newsletters, and sent out in ezines creating additional traffic and exposure!

4) Gain “Expert” status
Get yourself recognized as an authority in your field … Publish informative articles, and you will be seen as somebody with something to contribute… an authority on your topic.

5) Gratification
When your articles are accepted and published on an article directory you actually feel like you have accomplished something. Somebody likes what you wrote. You are accepted. You have contributed. You are a somebody! When you begin to see other webmasters placing your articles on their websites, you know that you are going in the right direction. You have been approved!

If you want to establish yourself and grow your website, there is no substitute for quality content. I am sure you have read or heard the statement ” content is king “. The fact of the matter is that this statement is even more true today than when it was first uttered. Content drives the internet but good content drives traffic and the keys of success to you. It is your choice. You can keep it simple, work hard, be consistant and keep churning out new articles or you can look for any easier route. If you choose the latter, I am absolutely sure there are plenty of individuals willing to help you…for a fee.
