Is Mozilla Able To Stop Intruders That Cause Insecurity?

Computers No Comments »

FirefoxHome computers needs additional software in order to keep them protected from many threats on the Internet. Many think that using a secure browser is enough.

Computer security is not built into a new computer because the systems, which are already downloaded into a new computer, have not been tested against current hacker attacks. Too much software is built to interact with “well behaved” computers, so they have weak defenses to stop intruders. Therefore, PC owners must learn very quickly the weaknesses of PC systems and what to do to protect their computer from intruders. One of the most important ways to protect a PC effectively is using a secure web browser, such as Mozilla. Read the rest of this entry »

Free Article Directory Topsites List Monitoring Service

News 1 Comment »

article directory topsitesYes, it’s true. I have started a new, free, article directory topsites list, as an additional service at the ABC Article Directory. Anyone that has an article directory or article directories, can have their sites monitored and compared to other similar sites in terms of traffic and position.

The new script can be seen at,  http://www.abcarticledirectory.com/top-article-directory/ , and, if you happen to have an article directory of your own, I will be more than  happy to have you on board.

If you are an author wanting to know where to place your articles, it might be a good idea to see how much traffic some article directories are generating. After all, what’s the use of submitting articles to every directory on the planet if most of them get little or no visitors. You want your articles to be seen and read. Read the rest of this entry »

Google Sitemaps 7 Benefits You Can’t Ignore

Tools and Resources 1 Comment »

google sitemapGoogle Sitemaps enables Webmasters to Directly Alert Google to Changes and Additions on a Website and that’s just one of 7 Benefits.

Telling search engines about new pages or new websites used to be what the submission process was all about. But major search engines stopped using that process a long time ago.

Google has for a long time depended on external links from pages they already know about in order to find new websites.

For webmasters and website owners Google Sitemaps is the most important development since RSS or Blog and Ping, to hit the Internet.

Using RSS and Blog and Ping enabled webmasters to alert the search engines to new additions to their web pages even though that was not the primary purpose of these systems. Read the rest of this entry »

Computers 2 Comments »

Microsoft Windows LogoBy following a few simple guidelines, you can maintain your computer and keep it running smoothly.  While most people would not think of skipping preventative maintenance on their automobiles, they do not apply the same care to the machine that holds their business and banking data, pictures, music, and important communications.

The majority of this article was first published in segments by Microsoft demonstrating how to use their tools available in Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) and Windows Vista to more efficiently maintain your computer and safeguard your privacy when you’re online.  The Computer Man in conjunction with the Remote Helpdesk 1 Team decided to add it to Remote Helpdesk 1’s Online PC Repair Articles and Web Based Computer Repair Blogs because most problems the Tennessee Mountain Man and Computer Man see are caused by a lack of simple preventative computer maintenance by users. Spyware & Spam No Comments »

spam banSince the introduction of the Internet to the public, spam has been in existence and has become more and more of a growing concern and problem. Everyone who uses the Internet, especially with an email account has probably experienced a form of spam. I don’t actually think it is possible anymore to have a email account where no spam is received without the help of a spam filter.

The problem of spam on the Internet has reached a sorry state of affairs and drastic action is needed before the situation escalades even further. By just changing a few Internet ‘habits’ you could prevent a certain amount of spam from reaching your inbox.

For many of us Internet use is part of our daily lives. Many of us work in an environment where using email and the Internet is part of our job description. Marketing, Tools and Resources No Comments »

autorespondersMost Internet marketers know the power that lies with the autoresponder.  They have even been termed as being “a marketers best friend”. How and why is this? Well, if you are unfamiliar with autoresponders you could be in for a real treat!  They provide the ability to email a large group of people at the same time without having to write the same email over and over again.  An autoresponder can send pre-written emails to recipients throughout a predetermined time period.  What can this mean to you? Well, huge time savings are definately apparent but the real power of the autoresponder is due to the fact that you can virtually automate your selling process which can provide you with a massive automated income!

Why is an autoresponder a marketer’s best friend?  There’s a saying that goes as follows…”Exposure is everything but the fortune is in the follow-up.”  You can expose a prospect to your web site and they may buy what you have to offer.  However, if you really want to significantly increase the chances of getting a sale, then you need to follow up with as many people that visit your web site as possible.  Autoresponders provide you with the ability to do just that. Blog Sites Beware: Liability Lurks In Bloggers’ Postings

Blogging No Comments »

copyrightIf your site allows visitors to post digital files or comments (e.g. in an online blog, as well as in a forum or chat room), you could be held liable for copyright infringement if any of their postings infringe the rights of another person, even if you are unaware of the infringement. Under general copyright principles, you would be strictly liable for their copyright infringement, even if you are “innocent”.

You could also be liable for defamatory statements posted by bloggers.

The Playboy Case And Copyright Infringement

A good example of an “innocent infringer’s” liability that occurred before the enactment of Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) is the case of Playboy Enter., Inc. v. Frena, 839 F. Supp. 1552 (M.D. Fla. 1993). In this case, Playboy alleged that the defendants who operated a bulletin board service (BBS) were liable for copyright infringement. Subscribers to the defendants’ BBS had illegally taken copyrighted photos owned by Playboy and uploaded them onto the defendants’ BBS.

The court found the defendants liable for copyright infringement, despite the fact that the defendants did not upload the photos (the subscribers uploaded them), and the defendants were unaware of the presence of the infringing photos until the lawsuit was filed. Read the rest of this entry »

Search Engine Optimization: Gearing Up For 2008 and Beyond

Search Engines (seo) 1 Comment »

seo and youThe SEO paradigm shift has already started kicking in. As search engine algorithms evolve, more weight is placed on trust-based factors and topical-relevance forcing marketers to sharpen up or lose their edge. Keyword density, perfect anchor text alignment and sheer volume of link equity will not cut it any more.

Mainstream Media Engagement

If marketers are working with brands that have an established off or online presence they already have a key advantage. Mainstream media and B2B publications with established trust will likely link to your website, and stimulate others to do the same through simply discussing your operations, strategies, successes and failures. This is a foot-print that’s hard to manipulate. Gaining mainstream coverage can (usually) only come with an established brand presence or exciting angle. If SEO clients don’t have this in place, chances are that they will be swimming against the tide. Read the rest of this entry »
