The Unmatched Windows XP Broadband - Cable Tweaks Guide

Computers No Comments »

Windows XP broadbandDoes your connection crawl? I bet it does buddy, just try these few simple tweaks, lets get you fixed today. The following tweaks and modifications are the ones I personally perform to my Cable connection after fresh installing windows.

Note-This Guide works with DSL and Cable Connections!

The first thing I like to do is run over to Control Panel > Network Connections and “right click” Local Area Connection (Your primary connection)

Then I Uncheck:

“Client for Microsoft Networks”

“File and Printer Sharing For Microsoft Networks”

“QoS Packet Scheduler”

Then I like to install LVLLORD’S TCP PATCH…. (Read more info below)

Microsoft Limited TCP connections in SP2 to 10! Regain lost speed by applying lvllord’s patch. Just download the patcher and execute it. It will automatically find the windows directory and ask, if it should increase/decrease. Enter C and change the value to 100, and confirm your changes. After a successful patch, the new TCPIP.SYS will be automatically installed. Restart your computer

After I get my Tcp nicely patched, I move on and Tweak my windows xp registry settings to unleash my cable connection’s real potential. Don’t be worried if I said “I tweak my registry”, You wont have to manually edit it because I use a great free tool called Cablenut! Read the rest of this entry »

Become the Tarzan of the Google Jungle…

Tools and Resources 1 Comment »

Google adwordsIt is human nature to defend your position… That said, our hard outer shell defends our inner weak emotional self. The one that one minute may hate someone and the next say that they love them.

Yes there is a truth that some people have a stronger emotional sturdiness, but they are few are far between.

Google Adwords and Google Adsense are an integral part of the Google jungle. The jungle itself is amazing to look at and equally exciting to visit; but if you are not careful you’ll get slapped, stung and leave the jungle penniless, as if robbed.

The image I am trying to create here is do we become the Tarzan of the Jungle, and become ‘one’ with the jungle. Or… do we get the hell out of the jungle and look for safety in our own ready built concrete haven? As we look back at that jungle of rivers and foliage, I may suggest we exaggerate with a little more intensity ever time we describe our experience. Instead of getting out of the jungle to save our sanity, we say we fought off lions and tigers and we could have been the king of that jungle. As with Google Adwords and Adsense, we walked through the rivers of the campaigns and systems… but ran away before we could conquer; to be overpowered by the foliage. Read the rest of this entry »

Don’t Pester The Editor

Content is King No Comments »

editorsAs an editor, I can tell you that one of my BIGGEST pet peeves is when a writer “pesters” me every other day or once a week about his (or her) submission. I don’t mind if it’s a viable question, but what I hate is when the writer’s impatience takes hold and I feel “squeezed” as if the writer’s pestering is going to make me accept his (or her) submission faster.

I think new writers, or writers with too much time on their hands, think that a little pestering will keep him (or her) on the forefront of the editor’s mind so that when the editor sees his (or her) submission, the editor will be inclined to look at it, recognize the name, and then buy the piece. And in a way, it makes sense. But what usually happens is quite the opposite. The editor becomes annoyed with the nagging writer and decides to simply decline the article—sometimes before it has even been read.

Increase Your SE Ranking By Promoting Inner Blog Pages

Search Engines (seo), Blogging No Comments »

promoting inner blog pagesLink popularity is a big factor in search engine rankings. The tendency of blog authors is to promote only the main url of their blog unaware that a large amount of traffic also comes from inner pages or deep links as it is popularly called. How to determine which pages needs to be promoted so that you will increase your blog or website traffic will be discussed later but first we’ll touch on the topic about what keywords are searched in the main url of your blog.

Keywords in the home page

Your home page is limited only to a few blog posts. Blogger defaults to 7 pages but you can assign any number from 1 to 99. Individual pages are created for each blog posts if you selected yes to ‘enabled post pages’ in the settings/archiving page of your dashboard. Therefore the keyword relevance in your home page may vary but not on your individual pages or deep link. Blogger assigns a unique url for individual pages.

For example if your home page contains 7 posts, then the 7th post will no longer be in your home page if you create another post. Keyword density which is a factor in search engine rankings will not be the same as the one before you created a new post.

Promoting your deep links is a good option to increase your overall page rank. Page rank for your deep links can be passed to your home page. Among the many deep links which you can see from your archive, which of them should take priority in promoting?

How to determine which pages to promote first Read the rest of this entry »

It’s Fraud! Everyway You Look At It!

Scams No Comments »

I am a somewhat like that ‘curious cat’ when it comes to junk mail.  I cannot resist wasting the time to read junk!  To me, all junk mail is created equal.  I read junk in direct mail and email deliveries.   I would like to ask readers, has anyone read those emails claiming that you are a giant lottery winner?  How about the one where they want you to pose as an overseas contractor?  long-lost heir?  American money catcher?  Fraud gets very creative as well as very convincing.  Fraudulent letters have ‘name-dropped’ some of the biggest including:  MSN, Yahoo, Google, AOL and HP.  How they keep getting away with this alone, amazes me.    Doesn’t someone there READ?  Doesn’t someone tell them?  Does anyone care?  Getting someone to care about something, has always been one hell of a mission.    Read the rest of this entry »
