4 Principles and Advantages of Fire Safety Training

     Fire safety training is essential for every individual. Accidents can occur at anytime and anywhere, and hence it is also good to be prepared. 'Fire safety' refers to measures taken to prevent and treat injuries and wounds, and stop death that occur as a result of a fire.

This articles talks about four important principles and five advantages of fire safety training for the workplace and at home.

The 4 principles are as follows.

The building area of the rooms must not exceed the capacity. Rooms must not be too big. This is because it is easier to evacuate people from smaller rooms in case of fire.

If there are any inflammable products in the vicinity, they need to be kept in secure areas away from sources of fire. Smoking must be prohibited in and around these areas.

Homes and workplaces must follow fire safety guidelines and these buildings need to be regularly inspected to check for violations. If any such violations are noted, they must be immediately reported and the area must be closed off until repairs have been made.

Every floor must have extinguishers and exits with adequate signs so that people can get to them easily in case of an emergency. Every so often drills must be conducted in the workplace to ensure that all employees know and understand the procedure of safety and evacuation in case of fire.

The 4 advantages are as follows:

Firstly, fire safety training will teach to be conscious of your actions. For e.g. a playful act of playing with a match box or candle may be dangerous if a fire breaks out. When you are conscious of your actions and understand the consequences, will do your best to control your actions.

Next, it teaches you to become observant. You will remember to switch off your gas stove after your work is done. The training enables you to be aware of danger before it actually occurs.

Sometimes, accidents are inevitable, and when they do occur you must know how to act. In the training you will learn how to curb the fire and prevent it from getting worse. You will know how to protect yourself and your colleagues and friends. It is also important to inform the higher authorities, the fire department, and ambulance in such a situation.

You will also be taught basics of first aid to help the burn victims. Immediate treatment must be given to them to prevent further damage, before the ambulance reaches the scene of accident. The main thing is to be calm. This training program will instill in you the confidence to get through such situations.

Fire safety training programs are generally free or accept a small fee. It is very beneficial and hence you must definitely attend it. This is something that will be useful all your life.
