I was always a bit questionable about the iPad. To me they just seemed like a well over sized iPhone that does not make phone calls. So i decided to investigate and see what the fuss was all about.
So first impression, oversized iPhone... with a confusing feel due to its size.
But within a few minutes of playing around and looking a little confused, I started to see that a lot of the benefits are actually within the apps themselves.
As most of you might realize there are quite a lot of apps out there developed specifically for the iPad, generally due to there visual and operations not being suitable for the smaller iPhone screen.
One of these apps for example relates directly to my blog... the word press app. Altho Word Press is available on iPhone, the larger screen size makes it so much easier to navigate and type. That alone is enough reason for me to purchase one.
But i think the primary attraction is reading capabilities. Weather it is an RSS feed, an e-book or just your social media timeline. Everything is so easy to read. It is just an electronic book with everything in one spot.
For those who are unsure the benefits of retina display. Your screen is at a massive 3.1 million pixels which means clearer images and text with nice sharp edges. You might not notice the difference so if you want an example try booting up the first computer you ever brought if you still own it and sit it next to your newest one. You will wonder how you ever looked at the old one for so long when you see the difference.
Games on this thing are amazing. I personally don't play many games on my iPhone for several reasons. On a 3.5 inch screen I just struggle to really connect with the moment. iPads on the other hand suck you right in and don't allow your fingers on the screen to distract your vision. And if you have retina display, the experience is even more enjoyable.
Now on the technical side of things. It comes down to what model iPad you own as to what electronics are in it. I have only used new iPads which obviously will all be amazing, fast and responsive in the early stages. Some devices tend to slow down and crash as they get older and run low on storage space. I may report on this in the future but for now I can say i know a lot of people that own iPads and no one has ever complained even once.
Some advise I can give is, if you plan to down load a heap of apps, books and music. Get something with larger memory. Even before you fill the device it will start running slow and crashing, this happens with anything really. And all operating system updates up to date. With my iPhone i can always tell when i need an update because it becomes barely usable. I assume this is because the device struggles to sync with online systems as there of different versions. Either way it happens.
All in all i think the iPad is a great piece of technology that anyone can be happy with.
