It all begins on October 1st if not sooner. The big box stores already have shelves of candy in orange and brown bags. There are spooky decorations, sound effects, costumes and instantly carved pumpkins. Everything is leading up to one night that is a dentist's dream and a mother's nightmare. Bringing the kids down from their sugar high on the 31st is not easy. And there's no telling if they have been into the candy you bought to give to the trick or treaters.
You do not have to trick your family or special group. You can treat them to a dream meal of 100% prime steak. You have your favorite fine dining restaurant in mind already. Maybe you have been part of a large group that was served in one of the two private dining areas that hold up to 60 guests. What impressed you the most was that the restaurant was able to serve each party member exactly what they wanted from the menu. This was no pre-ordered rubber chicken soiree.
Even though it was a prime steakhouse and definitely fit the fine dining category, there were no dress restrictions. Coats and ties were not required. You did see men in suits and sportcoats but you also saw men in khakis and polo shirts. People seemed very comfortable and pleased with the service and food. With the expansive menu you know each member of your family will be able to select an item they like.
You were impressed with the prime steak you had previously so you want the biggest, juiciest steak you can order. Probably it will be the bone-in Kansas City ribeye. You liked how they made the top and bottom a light brown with the inside perfectly rare. Being a creature of habit you probably will order all the same side dishes as before. You really liked the wasabi seared tuna. It was spicy but totally delicious. You opted for a Caesar salad then au Gratin potatoes and fresh broccoli with your steak. You even forgot all about calories and dug into a scrumptious piece of pecan pie for desert.
Your wife is not the carnivore you are and she will probably order some type of fish. Even though this is a prime steakhouse they have some wonderful selections from the sea. Maybe you will convince her to begin with French onion soup. You may tell her that several members in your party ordered the Alaskan king crab legs and they were very complimentary. She may like the Caesar salad as well, but might want a giant baked potato and sautéed mushrooms to go with the crab. You know she is a chocoholic and suggest the double-chocolate brownie for desert.
The kids are finicky but like fine dining. It makes them feel grown up and important. You will order the baked game hen for one and pork chops for the other. They will have fun giving each other a taste of their special dish.
Let your family know you are not going to trick them. You are going to treat them to a very special dinner at a prime steakhouse this October.
