While the best person to whiten your teeth is a dentist, unless you have good dental coverage or a sizable bank balance, this isn't always an option. It's not necessary to whiten your teeth professionally, as you can do it yourself with a little knowledge and ingenuity. Your smile can quickly become brighter using some simple methods. You do not even need to buy over the counter products if you really do not want to go that route. Some of the most helpful ingredients are common, inexpensive ones that can be found in most people's homes. Your teeth can start to look cleaner and white once you know about these methods and items, along with some common sense precautions you should take.
Strawberries, baking soda and peroxide can be combined to make a toothpaste that will whiten your teeth. If you want to make it even more potent, add lemon juice. Simply mix up all the ingredients together, taking care to crush the strawberries, and use it as a toothpaste. Brushing your teeth with this mixture, however, can cause erosion of the enamel on your teeth. Lemon juice and strawberries are both acidic, and though peroxide isn't, it can also damage your teeth over time. So if you use this mixture, then be very sure you brush thoroughly and rinse very well afterward. Because of the possibility for such side effects, it's not a good idea to use this method too frequently. If you use it once in a while, such as weekly for a few weeks, and no more than this, you can get the benefits and not risk any significant damage. You can actually have healthier and whiter teeth by eating a good diet, especially nutritious foods that are crunchy. Any healthy foods, especially fruits and vegetables (think of celery, carrots or apples, for example), that crunch in your mouth are good in this way. As you bite down on these nutritious foods, your teeth are getting naturally cleaned. Another advantage of eating such foods is that they can prevent the buildup up plaque between your teeth, as it gives them a natural scrubbing. One way your teeth get stained, and other problems such as cavities occur, is when plaque formed from bacteria builds up in your mouth. So having healthy snacks comprised of slightly hard and crunchy foods every day will help you maintain a clean, white smile and healthier teeth.
The reason why abnormally thin to completely worn tooth enamel is such as concern has everything to do with dental health. Your risk for cavities is much higher when you have either absent or worn down teeth enamel. If the enamel is completely worn-off, or missing for whatever reason, then your teeth will become permanently yellowed.
The reason for that effect is the underlying dentin will be exposed, and it has a yellowish color and is permanent. Also, when the enamel is gone, this will make your teeth more sensitive to temperature. Another reason for sensitivity can be lowered, or receded, gum line that is often caused by chronically hard brushing. Your gum line will be eliminated if your use a toothbrush that has bristles that are too hard for your teeth. Eating a healthier diet and good overall dental hygiene are the best ways to keep your teeth clean and white. Avoid smoking and foods that will stain your teeth, and replace them with healthy foods.
