Farnborough in Hampshire is a town having a population of 57,000 people that is possibly best known for its association with the world of aviation. The Farnborough International Air Show is a major event in the worldwide aviation calendar. Each show is typically attended by more than 150,000 trade visitors and around 1,300 exhibitors.
The show is famous across the United Kingdom as a marvelous day out for children and adults alike. The show is also attended by people from all over the world. These people are die hard aviation enthusiasts and manufacturers from other countries who wish to secure profitable and interesting business for their companies at the show.
As the host town for the Farnborough International Air Show, the town is well placed, being some 34 miles to the south west of London, so that international visitors can get there easily after flying in to Heathrow airport or Gatwick airport. Some of the participants are manufacturers of aircraft who come to the Farnborough International Air Show to display their aircraft in the hope of winning orders to make quantities of them for customers. Other participants at the Farnborough International Air Show make items that are associated with aircraft such as seats, windows, window blinds, ovens, trolleys, electronic equipment, sanitary fittings or air conditioning systems. These businesses will wish to link up with aircraft manufacturers in the hope of winning business to fit out their aircraft.
The Farnborough International Air Show will also play host to entrepreneurial air enthusiasts who sell special souvenirs and items of historical interest such as rare second hand books on aviation and old photographs of aircraft from years gone by. These items will be much in demand from anyone who is interested in the world of aviation.
People going to the Farnborough International Air Show by car will be grateful that the town is near the M3 motorway, and can be accessed by two junctions of the motorway. For people going to the show by train, the town is well served by railway stations. There is Farnborough Main, another one is Farnborough North, also North Camp station and not forgetting Ash Vale station.
For children, the Farnborough International Air Show is a wonderful event. The sky is full of incredible aircraft of every imaginable shape and size, from the massive Air Bus to the Red Arrows. The Airbus is a gigantic plane that is so large that it is a wonder that it can get into the air at all. The Red Arrows is a group of fighter jets that perform incredible acrobatic stunts to delight children and adults alike. A typical stunt is where the jet aircraft they fly towards eachother and then veer off at the last minute, to the delight and astonishment of the spectators.
