     Fire and electrical safety training has now become mandatory for employees of many companies. This training is very beneficial as it teaches you how to protect yourself and others during fire and electrical emergencies. This knowledge is also useful at home.

Fire Safety Tips

Invest: It is important to invest your money into things that will protect you during emergencies. You may be thinking of expenses, but these investments are necessary to protect the lives of your family members. You will learn the need to install smoke alarms in important areas of your house. A fire extinguisher is required near the kitchen as it is the area where the most fires are lit. During training you will also learn how to use the extinguisher. If you have furnaces and chimneys in your house, you must make sure it is checked every year for damage.

Cautiousness: You will be taught to be cautious when you use matches or lighters in your homes. You must never leave burning candles or fireplaces left unattended. Cigarettes and matches must be disposed off appropriately. You must teach these safety tips to your kids too. Make them practice drills and keep an emergency number handy so they can call during an emergency. Make sure you keep all inflammable items away from their reach.

Escape: Make an escape strategy for every floor of your house and explain all the exits to your children. Once in a while you can practice it with them, so they do not panic when a fire breaks out.

Electrical Safety Tips:

Inspection: If your house is old, make sure that all your wiring is inspected at least once every decade. Have the service man check for wear and tear in the electrical outlets and wires. As soon as a problem is noted, make sure you get it replaced. Training teaches you to be careful when you use too many electrical outlets at once. Make sure you don't plug too many electrical appliances in one single outlet.

Repair: If any of your electrical appliances show even the slightest signs of break down, stop using it immediately and get it repaired or replaced by the company. It is best you don't try fixing it on your own, because you may cause further problems.

Invest: It is beneficial to invest in installing an extinguisher specially to put off electrical fires. Ground fault circuit interrupters may also be installed around different areas of you house like bathrooms, garage, kitchen, and so on. If you buy new electrical appliances, make sure your read the manual carefully so that you understand the safety guidelines and how to use it.
