RC helicopters have truly carved out a niche in the imaginations and interest pursuits of many people previously and, not so surprisingly, are still continuing to do so. It is mostly due to the advent of affordable and technologically sophisticated electric powered RC helicopters, the interest is coming to new heights! Back in the day, which wasn't just that much long ago, the alternative was limited to gas driven copters, and if you either didn't have the cash or skill to withstand all the gas and oil fumes and dirt, you just went looking for something that does just a little more. The idea of soaring mini-versions of real helicopters has always captured the fantasy of many people, but only those with deeper understanding of the technology and the pockets to afford it could buy these products. However, time has passed and things have changed for the better!
Now, thanks to the marvelous improvement in batteries, motors and electrical devices constituents over the last couple of years, electric RC helicopters have become extremely popular, and have asserted a large share of the market. It must be mentioned here that you have choices. Who, for demonstration, would have even considered flying their gas driven RC helicopter in the homes? Now it's not only likely, but common! Some of the major advantages of electric powered RC helicopters include no untidy upkeep, smaller, more controllable air travel, shorter finding bends, less costly (generally), no noise or any other kind of pollution, and no stalling in mid air, as numerous gas flyers can and will do.
And the batteries for electric powered RC helicopters are getting better. Almost every quadcopter can now handle Lithium Polymer electric battery or what is more commonly known as Li-Poly battery, permitting them to stay flying as long as their gas counterparts. Easier to obtain, most electric powered RC helicopters use only 2,3 or 4 channels, making getting suspend of this a lot simpler. Some have twin rotors that spin in converse main headings, obviating the need for tail rotors (and therefore another channel!)
Li-Poly battery or Lithium Polymer are the most widespread way today of powering electric powered RC forms. Planes and helicopters make wide use of LiPo batteries as they are very lightweight and can store an impressive amount of power. They furthermore have high release rates compared to conventional rechargeable batteries (NiCad or NiMH) endowing them to supply the gigantic bursts of power required by high performance engines used in extreme flight maneuvers. It is the discovery of the LiPo rechargeable electric battery that has endowed electric power to become so popular for RC helicopters.
And another cool thing about quadcopter is that the technology is getting all the more advanced, with newer, mightier and very easily manageable products hitting the shelves with each passing day. And another wonderful thing about electric RC helicopters, and is that they are much more easily available, now found in most toy shops and not only in interest shops, as most gas driven models are.
