Historically stars have been fascinating man. They made patterns with them to group them and they used them to find their way during voyages. Scientific research has been done extensively to understand their nature. Stars are defined as bodies that contain plasma that are held together with gravity. The star that is closest to earth is the sun. It produces vast amounts of energy that is being used in the earth for the sustenance of animal and plant life.
Stars are made because of explosions that happen in outer space. When the gravitational pull becomes unstable within molecular clouds, gas and dust will form due to the splitting up of the original cloud. In the areas of the cloud that have an extremely high density, and this causes the gas and dust to collapse. As the gas and dust collapses, it produces heat and a higher gravitational pull. Eventually, this protostellar cloud will become stable, and this is when a protostar is formed. .
Throughout most of its life, the star will use hydrogen in order to make an energy that emits helium. When a star is first formed, it will increase the amount of helium that it produces on a regular basis. As this happens, you will notice that the star will become brighter as well as becoming hotter. The sun was a star that was formed over 4 billion years ago.
When you look at the night sky, you probably do not think about how old the stars that you are seeing are. Typically, these stars have been measured to be anywhere between one to ten billion years old. However, there are some stars that still exist that are as old as the universe. A star's lifespan is dependent on how big it is. Smaller stars have the longest lives, and they can survive over a hundred billion years. However, the larger stars will typically last only a few billion years because they are able to convert hydrogen to helium faster. This means that they last only a few billion years before they die.
When it comes to the Milky Way galaxy, these are the stars that we are able to see from earth. The sun is considered to be one of these stars. The stars that are in the Milky Way galaxy are made up of mostly hydrogen with a smaller amount of helium. However, most of these stars, except for the sun, are so far away that we are unable to feel any of the heat that they emit.
There are many different factors that astronomers take into account when they are measuring the lifespan of a star. Some of the things that they have to look at are the temperatures, how fast they rotate, and their radiation levels.
