Including one or two servings of fresh meat to your weekly diet will provide your body with many vital nutrients.

Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA)

CLA is found in meat and milk of grass-fed animals like cows. CLA is found to be a potent nutrient, antioxidant and anti-carcinogen. According to the research conducted by University of Alberta in Canada CLA is found to be helpful in the treatment of breast cancer. The most exciting discovery is that CLA is found to be effective in the treatment of brain cancer. CLA basically inhibits the development of new malignant tumors and also plays a vital role in reducing the growth of existing tumors.

Rich Source of Iron

Red meat is a rich source of heme iron which is found to be readily and easily absorbed in the blood. Iron is essential for health as it helps the blood's hemoglobin in carrying oxygen to each cell of the body. Deficiency of iron causes headaches, fatigue and dizziness. Red meat should be the part of the diet of child-bearing women as they normally face iron deficiency. Women usually suffer from drop in iron levels due to loss of blood during and after menstruation which could be compensated by including red meat in the diet of such women.

Source of Protein

Red meat is commonly known as rich source of protein. Protein is essential for human body as it is involved in the growth and repairing of cells. Protein is an important component of the cells of the human body including antibody cells of the immune system. Such cells protect the human body from pathogens.

Source of Zinc

Red meat especially beefs and lamb is rich sources of zinc. It ensures proper functioning of immune system and reduces the effects of premature aging. Deficiency of zinc can lead to skin problems like dermatitis. Intake of zinc during pregnancy reduces the risk of development of wheezing disorder in the child of such woman. Your skin definitely needs zinc for its health as it heals skin problems like acne and eczema.

B Vitamins

Red meat is a rich source of vitamin B particularly vitamin B12. Liver is found to be rich in these nutrients. Vitamin B is directly linked to the cognitive and emotional functioning of the human body. Studies indicate that deficiency of vitamin B causes depression. Improper intake of vitamin B by the pregnant woman would lead to poor infant growth and affect the cognitive and social development of children.

Vitamin A

Red meat and fat of grass-fed animals are rich sources of vitamin A. this vitamin is vital for health. It enhances fertility, immunity and good vision. Inadequate intake of vitamin A by the pregnant woman is directly linked to birth defects. The functioning of our immune and endocrine systems is also found to be dependent on the proper intake of vitamin A.

Source of Mono-unsaturated Fat

It is found that 35 percent of beef is composed of mono-unsaturated fat. These fats are directly linked to reduction in bad cholesterol (LDL) and an increase in good cholesterol (HDL).
