Chopard Watches are Swiss and the company was founded in 1860 by Louis-Ulysse Chopard. He was only 24 years of ache when he first started to create precise pocket watches and chronometers. They use their own movements and do not rely on the base movements that many other manufacturers rely on. They are one of the four brands that participate in the Fleurier Quality Foundation and this certifies that they are of the highest quality and they compete with the Geneva standards as well. Chopard Watches relocated their company to Geneva in 1920 and started to product watches right away. They were taken over by Karl Scheufele, a young watchmaker and goldsmith in 1963. This happened because Paul-Andre Chopard, the last of the family to run the business, had to give up the business because his sons pursued different careers. The factory moved once again in 1975 from the center of Geneva to Myrin-Geneva. This was a new start for the company and they began to make ladies' watches and jewelry as well. Chopard Watches launched their Happy Diamonds Collection, which are watches that feature mobile diamonds. These watches float freely between sapphire crystals that are transparent. Chopard Watches debuted a line of watches in 1980 that were sports watches on leather straps. They also expanded their Happy Diamonds collection and opened the first Chopard Watches boutiques in Hong Kong, Geneva, and Vienna. They gained a cooperation with Mille Miglia in 1988 and developed a Mille Miglia timepiece. They now create one of these timepieces every single year as a special edition piece. Their very popular happy sports collection started appearing in stores in 1993 and in 1996 the Chopard Watches Company opened an independent movement factory. They also produced the calibre 1.96 this same year and encased it in the old hunter-back case from 1860. Chopard Watches partnered with the Annual Cannes International Film Festival in 1998. The Chopard L.U.C. Quattro Watch was introduced to mark the new millennium in 2000 and is powered by a very advanced caliber with four barrels. It also provides a 9-day power reserve so that a battery is not always necessary and you don't have to worry about losing the power like with some other watches. The company celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Happy Diamonds collection in 2006 and this was also the 10th anniversary of the movement factory they opened as well. The president of the company is still Mr. Scheufele and he has kept the company as a family business. His children joined his company in the 1990s. Chopard Watches has three production sites in Switzerland, Geneva, and Germany. They have been organized to distribute their products through 13 specific subsidiaries that are all over the world. They have opened over 90 boutiques across the world to help sell these amazing timepieces as well. These include Chopard Watches locations in New York City, Beverly Hills, and Palm Beach with plans for other locations over time.
